"Hotel Modern"

Location. The Hotel Modern is located in the centre of Munich, Germany, 200 metres from the Hauptbahnhof, the city's main train station. The Englischer Garden and the site of the Oktoberfest are both within two kilometres of the hotel.
Hotel Features. The Hotel Modern is a six- storey property, and all floors are accessible by elevator. The hotel concierge can book tours and offer sightseeing advice.

The Hotel Modern houses an informal restaurant open throughout the day and offering a range of Thai and Vietnamese dishes. A complimentary buffet breakfast is served every morning in the breakfast room, which opens onto a patio.

Guestrooms. The 45 guestrooms extend to private bathrooms. Decor is simple and modern, and amenities include dial-up Internet connections, satellite television and telephones.

From Munich Franz Josef Strauss Airport (MUC):
Distance to the Hotel Modern is 30 kilometres, approximately 25 minutes' drive.

Getting there. The airport's train station is located between the two terminals on the basement level. The S8 and S1 S-Bahn trains leave every 20 minutes for Munich's main train station (Hauptbahnhof). Journey time is about 45 minutes, and single tickets cost 8.80 EUR. Tickets must be validated prior to travelling. The Lufthansa Airport bus runs to the Hauptbahnhof every 20 minutes, and a single fare is 9.50 EUR. Taxis to the city centre cost around 55-65 EUR. Prices are all subject to change.

Getting around. Much of Munich's city centre is pedestrianised and best explored on foot. The city's integrated public transport system includes buses, trams, S-Bahn commuter trains, and U-Bahn underground trains. Tickets cover all modes of public transport. Taxis wait at ranks around the city, but can be expensive. Trains run from the Hauptbahnhof to other German towns and the Bavarian countryside.

Driving directions. From the airport, take the A8 in the direction of Munich.
